Hello world!

So today is Thursday, which means another recipe! Now, what I was hoping was every time it came around to Thursday, I could find a recipe, or visit something old, make it, and let you know how it went…

Today however, I slept in very late (was up watching Supernatural last nigt) and this afternoon went to the charming town of St Rémy for some more present shopping; the upside, I finished all my shopping! the downside… I didn’t get to make anything.

So, I’m sorry… But here is a shortbread recipe which I found last week and have made twice since, it’s really easy and personally I LOVE it! (The rest of the family and everyone who had some enjoyed it too)

Preparation Time: 15mins

Chill Time: 20 mins

Cooking Time: 15-20mins

Yield: About 15-20 pieces, depending on personal choice

  • 125g unsalted butter
  • 55g sugar
  • 180g flour

  • Cream the butter and sugar (that just means beat until it’s light and fluffy)
  • Stir in flour
  • Roll to 1cm, cut/make whatever shapes you wish
  • Place in fridge (or a cold spot) for about 20mins to chill, at this time you can preheat the oven to 190°C (374°F for you Americans)
  • Bake for 15-20 mins until lightly golden

Notes: Don’t get your measurements wrong! If it is too flour-y it will be too crumbly to roll

For my firt batch I dipped half of each shortbread in melted chocolate (with a tiny bit of butter mixed in) I found it very pleasing to the palette… And by that I mean, who doesn’t love chocolate!

You can also sprinkle with 100’s and 1000’s after dipping, you can also do a million other things to decorate – the great thing about shortbread is it’s versitility, and I absolutely love it!

And with that, I’m off to bed,

Night all,

Fangirling…since forever

It has been a while, I know…but Helixs’ enigmatic post has got me thinking again. This blog requires more posts…not saying that cruskit, vine or helix are doing a bad job. These 3 have been at it and good on them. But at the beginning there were about 10 of us (I think)…and it’s sad that now only few are contributing 😦

Enough now hush! Ok I’ll start. Christmas was ‘plain’ (not boring or exciting). The subsequent long weekend was eventful. And the wait for New Year’s Eve is lengthy.

Now, my family had the Christmas tree, the pretty wrapped up presents and the excitement, but this year was weird. On Christmas day we opened pressies and ate lunch and that was wonderful but very ‘plain’. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one who is extravagant but maybe the lack of Christmas lighting around my neighbourhood or in the city only made Christmas a little less exciting than usual. I have never had a white Christmas and it pains me to say that Christmas + summer don’t equal Jingle Bells. I’m not complaining about where I live, I love my home; but all the Christmas movies I watched as a kid were American, and it snowed. I can remember wondering why it didn’t snow at Christmas where I lived. Ignoring this somewhat depressing thought, all I am trying to say is that Christmas just doesn’t seem chistmassy without snow and extravagant decorations.

Moving on…sorry to bore you little chickens! I have been watching an array of movies over the past few weeks. But recently I started watching…wait for it…Vampire Diaries (It’s a tv show not a movie…I know)! This is a surprise considering Vampires are a no no love candidate for anyone, after that movie/book ‘Twilight’. In fact this movie has only enraged my sense of vampire hatred. But being bored and finding it in my local Blockbuster, I watched the entirety of Season 1 in a mere 3 days. Let’s put it this way, I didn’t get bored BUT I didn’t fall in love with it. Maybe the fact that another TV series “Supernatural’ has such a fangirl effect on me (and nothing could compare), didn’t allow me to appreciate the storyline (not bad) of this ‘epic’ love story. That and the good looking leading men has influenced me to watch Season 2, which I shall get to. But before I finish…I want Bamon! It’s a ship, and shipping is what I do in almost everything I watch. If you have watched this show you will understand what I’m talking about. BTW…I am not a Wincest or Destial girl…just saying…

A new year will be soon upon us and I hope for that one moment everyone will be happy and look to the future with optimism 🙂  2012 for me brings my last year of school forever, and the return of my favourite shows( like Supernatural!!)  …I must learn how to control myself…but for now I shall enjoy my holidays and you do the same.
